Joy Meadows is located just outside the Kansas City metro area. In honor of May Foster Care Awareness month, Joy Meadows is excited to announce the upcoming annual Joy Run 2025, to be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at Zip KC adventure course (located at 12829 Loring Rd, Bonner Springs, KS 66012). This annual event brings together community members to raise critical funds for children impacted by the foster care system to ensure they have the housing, community support and resources they need.
“We’re so excited to welcome runners, walkers, and families of all ages and skill levels to join us,” said Justin Oberndorfer, founder and CEO of Joy Meadows nonprofit. “The foster care system is messy and hard. It will take everyone to make it better for the children who find themselves stuck in the system without a voice, or a way to access all of the help they need. This race is about everyone coming together to join with them- and gives us all a way to make a tangible impact in the lives of children.”
This year, Joy Meadows aims to raise $200,000. Funds will directly support all of our resource programs that we provide for free or minimal cost to those impacted by foster care. These are important programs like therapy, summer day camp, equine sessions, clothing closet, parent support, and housing.
