Raise the Roof

“There will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain.”

– Isaiah 4:6

Have you ever really thought about the importance of a good, solid roof over your head? It provides warmth during cold days, shade during hot ones, shelter from rain and wind, and security. Having a good roof is vital to staying safe and secure, especially as winter approaches.

This fall, Christian Brothers Roofing with Life 88.5 want to provide a new roof for a Kansas City homeowner that you nominate.

Here’s how it works:

First, you nominate a homeowner in need of a new roof, and three of the nominees will be chosen as finalists. The finalists will be announced one per day starting the morning of October 30, 2024. Each of the finalists will receive a $100 gift card to a home improvement store. Keep an eye on this page for their information!

Next, you vote! Voting opens on November 1 and closes November 13, 2024. One voter will also win a $100 gift card to a home improvement store!

Finally, the Grand Prize winner is chosen! Determined by your votes, the winner will be announced on November 15, 2024. Thanks to you, they will receive a brand new roof to keep them cozy as winter rolls around!

A small, white house with large bushes and trees surrounding it.

Ciara and I have been friends for well over 30 years, Her and her mom treated me like family. Her Mom passed away when we were in our early 20s right after Ciara had just become a mom. She lives in the house her mom raised her in and has had hard times making ends meet throughout the years, but she always finds a way. and she always helps others even when she hasn’t much for herself.

The house has been in bad shape for some time, she really could use a new roof to help maintain her home and all the daunting tasks that come with being a homeowner and a mother. I love her to pieces and am so proud of her perseverance. I have nominated her before a few years ago and I am giving it another go, because I think she really needs this. Not only for her home, but to restore her faith in that people do care. I think she feels forgotten so much of the time and I want her to know she is loved and thought about. Thank you for your consideration. I hope you can help her.

I am nominating the Arens family for many reasons, but most importantly out of sheer need. Darlene, a single parent of six, and grandma of three has worked very hard to provide for this family on her own and feeding her family has taken priority over repairs much of the time.

Her roof fell in early last month and half was repaired out of pocket just to have a very large tree fall on it just days ago destroying what had been fixed and making it even worse. Just three months ago their grinder pump had to be replaced for them to have plumbing which was $4000 out of pocket. She works over time every month to cover the cost. After being without proper plumbing for the duration, having to go to her family’s house to shower and a gas station to use the restrooms.

Dar is on disability and we are not clear on insurance coming through to repair this, and though the cost may be minimal compared to some, it’s more than she has. This family is a God fearing, loving, and very generous blessing to others – even when it means going without themselves. God is good and I know He will make a way, perhaps you may be the source. He will use it, either way I know He will make a way. Bless you for your generosity regardless of who you choose! Thank you and may God Bless you who blesses others!

My uncle is 80 on social security with health issues. His house could use a new roof. He is the kind of person that always has room for family.
